I know that many people have been curious about this e-bike and I thought it would be best to start by saying just how powerful this really is. It was designed with the intention of providing an electric bike that is capable of tackling tough terrain and carrying heavy loads, which makes it perfect for long-range adventures. If you’re looking for a bike that can provide a comfortable ride while carrying your gear and luggage, then this is definitely the bike for you. A high-powered 1,000W-rated mid-drive e-bike motor is hidden inside a high-quality frame box. This powerful motor is rated at 1,000W and contains cutting-edge technology that provides it with plenty of power to carry heavy loads up hills.
The bike is also physically large in many aspects. While it may be on the heavy side, it benefits from a large frame, tires, and weight rating. The 350lb / 159kg weight rating should give you a good idea of how overbuilt the bike is when compared to most other electric bikes with a fraction of that weight rating. You feel like a freight train and the world’s most mobile bulldozer in between your travels when you’re traveling at 45 kilometers per hour. The Wildtan’s charm is due to the ability to switch back and forth between trail riding and street riding. It has no need for a trail as it is simply an Overlanding e-bike. The powerful 1000W Mid Drive Motor with 160Nn of Torque and the massive 4.5-inch wide fat tires make it easy to blaze your own trail on any terrain. Throw in a powerful motor and some quality 9-speed shifters, and you’ll be able to take on almost any terrain with ease. None of those steep hills will hold you back anymore. While electric bikes that are not sold in bike shops tend to go with the lower-tier Shimano transmissions, this Wildtan is equipped with a top-tier Shimano Alivio step shifter.
Add to that the improved hydraulic disc brakes, a more robust suspension fork with adjustable pressure, preload, and lockout for better performance along with the nicer 5-inch color display and the thru-axle on the front wheel, and all the other higher-end parts. You can see how Addmotor has actually taken the time to carefully spec the Wildtan for real use and abuse, not just a facade of a rugged bike. The bike features an advanced battery system that will last for many hours on a single charge and doesn’t leave the bike feeling emasculated when it comes to power either. It comes with a larger battery than what you’d find on bikes of this style. You are looking at 840Wh of genuine Panasonic cells at 48V and 17.5Ah. What this means is that not only does it have a high-capacity battery that can last for more time, but the battery cells are of a higher quality and should be able to last for many years.
Upon laying eyes on a bike like this, I’d expect it to be equipped with high-quality components. And while this bike is quite expensive, the quality makes up for it: it costs the same as a full suspension e-bike would, despite being a hardtail. Addmotor is able to justify the cost of its electric bike products by using expensive, high-quality components instead of using lower-end parts found in other e-bikes. In addition, Addmotor has a powerful mid-drive motor that can be used for climbing hills and for hauling heavy loads. While it is still a lot of money, it is worth remembering that an e-bike like this is an investment. I had a blast riding this particular model and it blew my expectations out of the water. You really need to prioritize your needs and wants in order to determine whether or not this would be the perfect bike for you before committing to buying such an expensive purchase.
On a more positive note, you’re definitely getting a lot for your money here. The bike is an absolute crowd pleaser because of its high-end components, but also because of its low price range. As I rode the bike through the busy morning streets, I could see drivers of cars rolling down their windows to talk to me on occasion to ask me about my bike when they stopped at a red light. I even got a few thumbs up from the pedestrians as I rode past them. At least, that’s what I think they were giving me. So while the price may sting a bit, I can vouch for how much fun the bike is and how well it is put together. It’s one of the best options for riders who want to do a variety of different things without buying a second bike.
The right-side, half-twist throttle of the bike is something that I have come to greatly appreciate after owning this bike and it has become my favorite design feature. Compared to other designs in the market, this was by far the most comfortable and natural feeling solution available. The bike feels good to ride on. The saddle is comfortable and the bike is nicely proportioned for tall riders. It’s a nice, easy-to-control, easy-to-ride experience overall. All things considered, this is a fun and easy-to-use electric bike that is perfect for anyone who has the space to fit a large bike like this in their home.
Indeed, for those who can afford it, this is a wild ride.
